That steering column collapse can be explained easily - I had an offset head on crash in 2007 with a 17yo street racer. I was doing around 70km/h (44mph) with maybe 2 car lengths of braking before impact. I was holding the wheel, and wearing my seat belt. Despite the airbags and pre-tensioners going off, I didn’t actually hit the airbag - I watched my glasses hit the airbag in front of me, and then fall to the floor. I got friction burns on my forearms from the deployment! Because I was still holding the wheel, I pushed it in far enough to operate both the wands - the high beam flash stayed on, and the washer pump stayed running until I turned the ignition off. I reckon it moved the wheel a good 4 inches in closer to the dash. It caused me some tendon damage in my left thumb, and broke my right thumb. I also had numerous broken bones, and a seat belt bruise that lasted 3 weeks and went through 50 shades of purple. And whilst it was 3 months off work and 9 months of physio, the safety systems built into that car saved my life. The front of my car was pushed in about as far as this pickup, and the engine was shoved into the firewall, causing cowl damage just like this one. I think the driver would have been very sore after the impact.

Vehcor should make a series out of “would you buy it?” Showing the car at auction and let us comment whether or not we’d buy it while you explain if you would or not..

I would walk away from that one because of the mileage. There may well be problems unrelated to the accident plus problems with selling it even with a clean title. Or problems after selling it.

on my 93 vw fox, my stepdad could change gears without pushing the clutch in - and there was nothing wrong with the clutch. In fact, when I got rid of the car it had over 160,000 miles on it with the original clutch still working.

If I paid 30k for that , I would commit sepuka. I wouldn't have paid 17, either, so,, there ya go. These "repairable" cars, should be only for those real skills. But, somebody sees it, as shown, thinks, yeah my bud w/a shop, blah blah, its not too bad. Could happen,,,,Dubs,,,,

It was standard for me to drive the semi truck with an Eaton 10 speed without the clutch. Match speed and RPM to change gears.

So basically clutches are for pansies

I drove like this for nearly a year, but, with using the clutch only to get into 1st gear and reverse. Then after that, I had to rebuild the transmission for 2nd gear. They don't call it crashing the box for nothing. But, I like your stop the engine start technique. Clever. I've seen Kimi Raikkanen never use the clutch and never turn the car off. Just slowly pushing the shifter into 1st gear from a stand still. Either way, just letting the clone clutches on the sychro rings doing all the work. Again, clever in a pinch. Cool video..!

If you could get it at a fair price, this would be perfect to buy as a complete vehicle to restomod an older GM truck with. Take out the LS V8 and the full interior then scrap the rest!

Wow ugliest truck I've eber saw ! Im a GM person lol.they all ugly last few years and computers on wheels and go cart sized engine's , some 4 bangers with a ton of boost / psi to make them have decent power ..reliability and drivability is gone ! And computer gadgets spy on you and hundreds of sensors to go bad and cost you big $$$, amd EPA restrictions has them chocked off thinks to the left ..buy used ! 1975 to 2010 max , low miles and keep it in good shape .when they loose big $$$$ they'll stop and start making them like they did in the 2000's ..folks $ holds the key foe demand

Someone paid over 10K for that auction. Hopefully there are enough parts there to make that money back.. Maybe the computers, interior parts, rear bumper, tailgate, wheels, etc.. I think whoever bought it is going to lose quite a bit.

I wonder if someone puts a vehicle up for sale on a auction with a reserve and they don’t negotiate a sale in the seller takes the vehicle somewhere else that sell auction show up

Ive noticed it’s bad in Houston Florida and New Jersey! I’m all the way in Kansas so I don’t have these issues If I can’t put my hands on it I don’t buy it! I miss the days growing up when it was a silent and in person bidding now it’s just a crap shoot even when you put hands on it your bidding against the cartel or other money launders I wish that would get some attention

Put that POS up on a lift and take a look. As for fixing it, it’s criminal IMO as it will be sold to some unsuspecting/uneducated buyer as being in a minor fender bender. Who here would be comfortable running it up to 175 MPH after “repaired”? How about having a loved one buy it?
